State Bank of Pakistan Clarifies Misinformation on ATM and Online Banking Services

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has firmly dismissed recent rumors suggesting a nationwide shutdown of ATMs and online banking services, calling these claims completely unfounded. In a recent announcement, the central bank assured the public that all banking operations, including ATMs and online services, are functioning smoothly without any disruptions.

The SBP also took this opportunity to advise the public to be vigilant against suspicious online activities. They cautioned users to avoid clicking on dubious links and to protect their personal information from potential scams.

For added security, the central bank recommended that customers always log out of their online banking sessions after use to minimize the risk of unauthorized access. Additionally, the SBP encouraged users to regularly review their account statements for any unusual transactions, which could indicate potential security issues.

Instead of relying on social media posts, the SBP urged people to seek information directly from official channels to avoid being misled. The bank emphasized that unverified claims often lack any factual basis and should be disregarded.

In its proactive stance, the SBP continues to work closely with financial institutions and 1Link, the country’s payment and ATM switch operator, to reinforce the security measures in place. This cooperation is part of their ongoing effort to protect customers and ensure the resilience of the banking system.

The SBP’s swift action underscores its dedication to safeguarding Pakistan’s banking system, while reminding the public to remain vigilant and not be swayed by misleading information.
