Arshad Nadeem Honored with Hilal-e-Imtiaz for Historic Olympic Achievement

On Thursday, the prestigious Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Pakistan’s second-highest civilian honor, was awarded to Arshad Nadeem, the country’s celebrated Olympic gold medallist. This award recognizes his remarkable achievement at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he won Pakistan’s first-ever gold medal in athletics.

Nadeem’s victory in the men’s javelin throw competition was historic, as he set a new Olympic record by throwing the javelin 92.97 meters. This feat not only brought glory to the nation but also ended a 40-year drought of gold medals for Pakistan.

The award ceremony took place at the President House in Islamabad, where President Asif Ali Zardari presented the honor to Nadeem. Despite facing significant challenges, including a lack of facilities, equipment, and training, Nadeem’s perseverance led him to achieve this extraordinary milestone.

Thus, the nation’s long wait for an Olympic gold medal came to an end thanks to Nadeem’s exceptional performance.
