After the loss of eight Pakistanis, PM Shehbaz called on Iran to act quickly and take responsibility.

After the tragic loss of their loved ones in Iran, families are in mourning, urgently seeking the repatriation of the slain car mechanics’ bodies.

  • He urges neighboring countries to unite and formulate a robust, joint strategy to effectively address and counter the menace of terrorism.
  • Prime Minister Shehbaz underscores that terrorism remains a persistent and severe threat to the stability of the entire region.
  • In response to the tragedy, the Prime Minister has instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to promptly contact the affected families and provide them with all necessary support during this difficult time.

PM Shehbaz Demands Justice for the Victims

PM Shehbaz Calls on Iran to take immediate action in capturing those accountable for the tragic killing of eight Pakistanis near the Pak-Iran border, stressing the urgency of ensuring justice is served and preventing similar incidents in the future.

In a deeply tragic incident, eight Pakistani car mechanics lost their lives when gunmen opened fire on them in Iran’s volatile Sistan and Baluchestan province.

The attack occurred at a workshop in the Mehrestan district, near the Afghanistan border, as reported by Iranian media on Saturday night.

The Pain of the Victims’ Families

The tragic incident has left deep scarred on the families of six victims from Khanqa Sharif, Bahawalpur, and two from Tehsil Ahmedpur Sharqia.

Their loss has devastated both families and communities. Their hometowns feel the impact of this senseless act deeply.

Grieved by the incident, Prime Minister Shehbaz condemned the attack as a horrifying act of terrorism.

He urged Iranian officials to share the truth behind the tragedy with the public, emphasizing that openness and accountability are vital in times like these.

Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed serious concern over the rising tide of terrorism, describing it as a grave threat to regional peace and innocent lives. He called on neighboring countries to unite and take joint, decisive action to eradicate this danger from the region completely.

Support for Affected Families, Government’s Commitment

Understanding the pain of the affected families, therefore, the Prime Minister ordered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to stand beside them in this difficult time, and thus ensuring they receive every possible form of support.

He also tasked the embassy in Iran with handling the return of the deceased with urgency and dignity.

Overwhelmed with sorrow, the families of the victims have pleaded with the government to take immediate steps for the return of their loved ones’ bodies, hoping to find some sense of closure amidst this heartbreaking loss.

A Heartbreaking Story Speaks Aamir’s Father

Aamir, who had been working in Iran for the past year, had eagerly awaited his return home for Eid ul Fitr.

His father expressed the deep disappointment he felt when border closures shattered his son’s plans to reunite with his family during this special time.

Aamir’s father, overwhelmed with grief, shared, “We were informed that a terrorist attack occurred at the garage where he worked.”

With deep sorrow, he appealed, “In this painful moment, we ask the government to help us bring our loved ones back home.”

Naeem, a relative of one of the victims, expressed his frustration, revealing that by Saturday night, the authorities in Bahawalpur had still not reached out to the grieving families, leaving them to bear their sorrow without any support.

Cross-Border Tensions and Diplomatic Strain

The tragic incident, consequently, dealt a severe blow, thereby derailing the delicate efforts of neighboring countries to repair their strained relations, which, after all, had already been shaken by a sudden flare-up of cross-border tensions following Iran’s unanticipated attack on a militant group in Pakistan.

Over the past few years, the area near the Iran-Pakistan border has witnessed a troubling pattern of events, including shootings, smuggling, and border conflicts.

Consequently, this is all because of its key position in the region.

Vulnerable Pakistani Workers in Iran’s Border Regions

In the border regions of Iran, Pakistani workers are frequently employed in vehicle repair and agriculture.
However, the recent tragic killings, consequently, highlight a disturbing rise in the threats and insecurity faced by foreign laborers in these western provinces.

In a tragic turn of events last January, a shooting in Iran’s southeastern region, close to the Pakistan border, claimed the lives of nine Pakistanis and injured three others.

This occurred just one day after Islamabad and Tehran had officially repaired their diplomatic relationship after a brief period of tension.
