On Tuesday, the Pakistan Shoots India Drone near the Line of Control (LoC) in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), according to state media reports. This incident has occurred amidst growing tensions between Pakistan and India, which have intensified following the recent Pahalgam attack.
The tragic attack on April 22 resulted in the deaths of 26 people, with the majority being tourists, making it one of the deadliest armed assaults in the disputed Himalayan region in over two decades. While a message initially took credit for the attack, the Kashmir Resistance, or The Resistance Front, later clarified that they had no involvement in the incident.
India has suggested the attackers might have cross-border ties, though no concrete evidence has been presented.
On the other hand, Pakistan has strongly denied these accusations. As a result, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for an impartial and thorough investigation to uncover the facts.
Pak Army’s Swift Action Against Drone
Security sources have confirmed that Pakistan Shoots India Drone near the Line of Control, successfully intercepted and shot down an Indian quadcopter near the Line of Control, preventing it from entering the country’s airspace.
Security sources have revealed that the adversary made an attempt to conduct surveillance using a quadcopter in the Manawar sector of Bhimber district, located in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
The report underscored the Pakistan Army’s swift and calculated response that successfully neutralized the enemy’s intent.
Security officials described the encounter as a strong reflection of the Army’s unwavering vigilance, tactical mastery, and exceptional state of combat readiness.
The report clearly conveyed that the Pakistan Army remains on high alert, ready to respond with speed and precision to any threat posed by the enemy. It also highlighted the deep-rooted unity between the armed forces and the people — a bond forged in patriotism and shared purpose, standing together to defend the nation with unwavering strength and determination.
This latest situation unfolded as Pakistani and Indian troops continued exchanging fire along the Line of Control for the fifth night in a row, a noticeable break from the quiet that had largely prevailed in the region over the past four years.
Tensions Grow at the LoC
The Indian military claimed that its troops exchanged fire with Pakistani forces during the night, though Pakistan has yet to issue an official response.
India stated that, between Monday and Tuesday night, gunfire erupted across several areas, including those facing the Kupwara and Baramulla districts in occupied Kashmir, along with the Akhnoor sector.
No fatalities have been reported at this stage. In the midst of the escalating situation, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif assured yesterday that Pakistan is on high alert and prepared to defend against any possible Indian incursion.
Asif told Reuters that Pakistan has reinforced its military forces, fully aware of the urgency and seriousness of the situation.
He pointed out that, given these developments, the organization has already begun implementing the necessary strategic actions.
He mentioned that the military had alerted the government about the potential threat of an Indian attack, but he refrained from providing further details on the grounds for his belief that an incursion was likely.
