On Sunday, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), paid a heartfelt tribute to Syed Ali Geelani, a prominent figure in the Kashmiri struggle, on the third anniversary of Geelani’s death.
Geelani, often honored with the title “Baba-e-Hurriyat” or “father of the freedom movement,” was praised by Bhutto-Zardari for his unwavering stance against Indian oppression. The former foreign minister highlighted Geelani’s dedication to advocating for fundamental human rights and independence, stating that his efforts were truly commendable.
Bhutto-Zardari also pointed out the wider consequences of the Kashmir conflict, stating that the peace process in the region is under threat because of the unresolved dispute. He stressed that only the determination of the Kashmiri people can lead to a resolution of these issues.
He promised that the PPP will remain committed to recognizing and supporting the Kashmiris’ fight for their right to self-rule.
