The tragic event that unfolded in China Shandong province has left at least 11 people dead, including five students. The incident occurred when a school bus plowed into a crowd outside a school in Tai’an city, where students and parents had gathered. Among the victims were six parents and five students.
State media reports confirm that the driver of the bus lost control of the vehicle, leading to the devastating accident. While the investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing, it remains unclear whether it was an intentional act. The driver has been detained by the police.
In addition to the fatalities, several others were injured, with one individual in critical condition. The remaining 12 injured are reported to be in stable condition. Meanwhile, images and videos of the incident have surfaced on social media, depicting the harrowing scene where people appeared to be trapped under the school bus.
This tragic incident has occurred just as students were returning to school for the new academic year, adding to the grief and shock felt by the community. Unfortunately, such deadly traffic accidents are not uncommon in China. Just a few months earlier, in July, a similar tragedy took place in the central city of Changsha, where a vehicle crashed into a group of pedestrians, resulting in eight deaths and several injuries.
