CM Murad Ali Shah Reviews Rain Response Efforts in Sujawal

A weather system originating from Bangladesh and India has now reached Sindh, as stated by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. He discussed this during his visit to the Sujawal-Thatto Bridge in the Sujawal district, where he was overseeing the preparations for the impending rain emergency.

According to the Chief Minister, Tharparkar has been experiencing heavy rainfall for the past two days. It was emphasized that Karachi, Thatto, Sujawal, Badin, Umarkot, Sanghar, and Shaheed Benazirabad are particularly at risk from this stormy weather system.

The continuous downpour has complicated the drainage of rainwater, making it a significant challenge. Furthermore, the Chief Minister highlighted the efforts being made by the government to address the housing crisis caused by the heavy rainfall and flooding in 2022.

Notably, 2.1 million housing units are being constructed to provide shelter for approximately 12 million affected people. Out of these, two lakh houses have already been completed, while another six lakh are currently under construction.

After monitoring the situation in Karachi and Thatta, the Chief Minister arrived in Sujawal. He was welcomed by provincial minister Muhammad Ali Malkani and other officials. Accompanied by members of the provincial cabinet, he visited various areas and inspected the water flow at Dolah Darya Khan Bridge over the Indus River.

Through these inspections and preparations, the Sindh government is actively working to minimize the impact of the ongoing weather conditions on the affected regions.
