Big Fire Damages Top Floors of Karachi Mall
During the rescue efforts, it was revealed that close to 150 shops on the third floor were hit badly, while damage also reached the first and second levels of the building. This level of destruction highlights the severe impact of the Karachi mall fire.
Early Wednesday morning, a fire broke out at Millennium Mall, a shopping mall on Rashid Minhas Road in Karachi. After hours of hard work, the flames were fully brought under control, leaving behind a scene of damage and smoke. Residents nearby were shocked by the scale of the Karachi mall incident.
The fire department was alerted early in the morning, and Rescue 1122’s Muhammad Hassan confirmed the call came in at 4:06am. A total of 12 fire engines worked together to bring the situation under control. It took significant resources to contain the Karachi mall blaze.
Speaking about the cause, he said the fire alarm system in the building was not working, which made things worse. The fire first broke out in the control room and quickly moved to other parts of the building, causing more trouble. The lack of proper safety systems contributed to the Karachi mall tragedy.
According to the spokesperson, nearly 150 shops on the third floor were harmed by the fire, while the lower two floors had some damage as well. At the time, security guards were inside, and people living in the nearby building were taken out early to make sure they stayed safe.

Everyone stayed safe, and no injuries were reported. The building nearby didn’t face any harm, and after the flames were gone, cooling work was also done to prevent the fire from starting again. Firefighters remained on site for several hours to ensure complete safety. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
While talking about the challenges, Chief Fire Officer Humayun Khan said the fire crew faced delays due to a shortage of water. To manage the situation, 11 fire trucks and 2 vehicles with extendable ladders were used until the fire was fully under control.
The fire mainly ruined the upper part of the mall, including the third floor and the rooftop where shops and offices were set up. The lower two floors were also touched by the fire, but the damage there was much less.
One morning earlier this month, a fire suddenly started in a factory at the Landhi Export Processing Zone. Due to the presence of flammable materials, the fire quickly spread and reached three other factories nearby before it was brought under control, according to Rescue 1122.
