PM Shehbaz Sharif Condemns Mastung Blast, Offers Support
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his deep concern over the incident, condemning it strongly and extending his support to the victims and their families. He also promised that the government will stand firm against those who seek to harm innocent lives.
This heartbreaking incident comes at a time when terror attacks are increasing across the country, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan , both bordering Afghanistan , bearing the heaviest impact.
For the first time in 12 years, the beginning of 2025 brought a small ray of hope for Pakistan’s security, with more militants and insurgents losing their lives than innocent civilians or security forces.
CRSS Report Shows Drop in Civilian and Security Force Fatalities
The latest report from the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), released on Saturday, highlights a significant drop in the number of deaths among civilians and security forces compared to the last quarter of 2024.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan continue to be the main hotspots for violence, with nearly all the deaths occurring there. Attacks are becoming bolder, with militants adopting new tactics, like the shocking hijacking of the Jaffar Express. If this trend continues, over 3,600 lives could be lost by the end of the year, making 2025 one of the deadliest years Pakistan has ever experienced.
In the early months of 2025, Pakistan experienced 897 deaths and 542 injuries due to violence, affecting civilians, security personnel, and criminals. A total of 1,439 people were impacted by 354 violent incidents, including terrorist attacks and military operations. Compared to the last months of 2024, when 1,028 people were killed, this marks nearly a 13% decrease in overall violence.
Balochistan Records Sharp 15% Rise in Violence
In this period, Balochistan faced a heavy blow, with more than one-third of all violence-related deaths happening there. What makes it more alarming is that violence in the province has increased by 15% compared to the last quarter.
In just a few months, 402 lives , including innocent civilians and brave security personnel, were lost. While 495 militants were taken down, the heartbreak of losing innocent people still weighs heavy. Even though more outlaws died, every life lost leaves behind sorrow and pain that numbers can’t truly measure.
