On Tuesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif shared some exciting news , Pakistan has a skaecured almost $700 million in fresh investment promises from abroad, giving a big boost to the country’s fast-growing IT industry. This development marks a significant milestone in the Pakistan IT Sector Investment 2025, which is set to fuel the nation’s technological advancements.

Pakistan’s Youth Driving the Digital Revolution

During his address at the Digital Foreign Direct Investment (DFDI-2025) conference, Prime Minister Sharif urged global investors to deepen their support for Pakistan’s ambition to establish itself as a dominant force in the worldwide digital economy. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of collaboration and highlighted the potential benefits for both investors and the Pakistani economy. He called for immediate action to foster innovation and drive sustainable growth.

Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the important role of Pakistan’s young population and growing digital resources in driving the country’s progress. “We’re not waiting for the future, we’re making it happen,” he said, emphasizing how the youth will lead Pakistan’s digital growth.

With top global tech leaders in attendance, the conference became a pivotal moment in Pakistan IT Sector Investment 2025. “We are committed to supporting investors in our IT sector,” Sharif said, as he welcomed delegates from 11 countries to the event.

The Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s young and talented population, especially those learning modern tech like artificial intelligence. He noted that they are bringing positive change to fields like agriculture and exports. Their contributions are significantly advancing the overall development of the country.

He proudly shared that nearly 60% of the nation’s people are young and full of potential.

Their efforts, he said, are already showing results both in the country and abroad. In March 2025, overseas Pakistanis sent home a record $4.1 billion, reflecting the strong connection between Pakistan’s economy and the digital world.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif shared details about Pakistan’s ongoing cooperation with Huawei, a major Chinese tech firm. Huawei trains nearly 200,000 students every year in modern technology. He invited global investors, especially from North America, to explore Pakistan’s growing IT sector.

World Bank Support for Rural Technology Initiative

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recalled an important initiative from his time as Punjab’s chief minister.

He had distributed 400,000 laptops to students to help them enter the digital world. With support from the World Bank, efforts are now underway to bring technology to rural areas. Additionally, officials highlighted several developments; furthermore, these included Safe City projects, IT parks, and skill centers.

Deemah AlYahya, the Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization, praised Pakistan for its rapid advancements in the digital arena, describing the transformation as a “revolution.”

She pointed out notable milestones, including 142 million broadband users and a 65% smartphone penetration rate. She also highlighted a major rise in IT exports. These exports are expected to surpass $4 billion.
