Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Introduces ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’: A New Hope for Affordable Housing

The “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” housing initiative, spearheaded by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, is set to transform the housing landscape for low-income families in Punjab. This program focuses on making homeownership a reality for vulnerable segments of society, such as workers and laborers, who often struggle to afford a place to call their own.

To make this dream attainable, the government has introduced a scheme that offers homes at significantly reduced prices. Families that meet the criteria—such as being residents of Punjab, earning less than Rs60,000 per month, and currently lacking a home—are eligible to apply. Government employees who fall into this category are also encouraged to participate.

Each unit in this project is priced at Rs1.5 million, but with a substantial government subsidy, the cost is reduced for beneficiaries. These families will only need to cover 40% of the total price, payable through manageable monthly installments of Rs14,000.

The program aims to construct over 3,000 homes in each of the selected districts, with a primary focus on five major cities: Multan, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Sargodha, and Rawalpindi. In Lahore, the first phase will feature the creation of 5,000 homes along Raiwind Road.

Applicants who wish to take advantage of this opportunity can do so by submitting their applications online through the official government portal. This initiative is a crucial step toward alleviating the housing shortage for low-income families, ensuring they have access to safe and affordable housing options.
