The Punjab government plans to introduce a property tax across the province. The Punjab Excise and Taxation Department has been tasked with listing all houses within a month. This tax will apply to properties 5 marlas or larger, starting at a value of over Rs 5 million.
In addition to this, a garbage tax was recently announced by the government. This particular tax will be applied differently based on the property location, with varying rates for rural and urban areas.
These new taxes have been introduced as part of the government broader strategy to enhance revenue generation. However, before these measures are put into effect, approval from the cabinet will be required.
