In a move to help Umrah pilgrims plan better, Saudi officials have announced the final dates for entering and leaving the Kingdom ahead of Hajj season.

As Hajj 2025 draws near, Saudi authorities have introduced updated Makkah Entry Guidelines to ensure that every pilgrim’s journey is safe, smooth, and fully supported from start to finish.

Saudi authorities want to help Umrah pilgrims plan smoothly. Therefore, they’ve set April 13, 2025, as the last day to enter the Kingdom. Additionally, all pilgrims must leave by April 29 to clear the way for the Hajj season.

Saudi officials have kindly reminded pilgrims to plan their return on time, adding that staying past the allowed date may go against the rules in place for everyone’s safety.

Strict Entry Control Begins April 23

Beginning April 23, 2025, entry into the holy city of Makkah will be closely monitored to support a safe and well-organized Hajj season. Only individuals with a valid work visa, a residence ID registered in Makkah, or an approved Hajj permit will be granted access.

Permit Requirement for Foreign Residents

Saudi authorities want to help Umrah pilgrims plan smoothly. Therefore, they’ve set April 13, 2025, as the last day to enter the Kingdom. Furthermore, all pilgrims must leave by April 29 in order to clear the way for the Hajj season.

These updated Makkah Entry Guidelines, are designed to protect the sanctity of the holy city and manage the increasing number of visitors during Hajj.

Temporary Suspension of Umrah Permits

In preparation for the upcoming Hajj season, Saudi officials have, therefore, paused the issuance of Umrah permits through the Nusuk platform; consequently, the suspension is in effect from April 29 to June 10, 2025.

Entry Limited to Hajj Visa Holders Only

To ensure a smooth and safe Hajj, Saudi Arabia will, therefore, allow only travelers with an official Hajj visa to enter Makkah starting April 29. Meanwhile, others must wait until the pilgrimage season ends before visiting the holy city. Work-Related Entry Requires Online Approval

Under the new rules, anyone working in Makkah or nearby sacred areas must get online permission through the official system before starting their duties.
