WhatsApp Expands AR Features to iOS Users: A New Era of Video Calls

The augmented reality (AR) feature for call effects and filters, previously exclusive to Android users, is now being introduced to iOS users. Earlier this year, Meta’s popular messaging app added this feature for Android, which enhanced video calls with new levels of personalization and interactivity.

Recently, it has been discovered that WhatsApp is extending this capability to iOS users. The latest update, version 24.17.10.74 of WhatsApp beta for iOS, indicates that iOS users will soon have access to the same AR features that Android users have enjoyed.

Currently, this feature is available exclusively to beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta version via the TestFlight app. Over the next few weeks, more users will gradually gain access to these new capabilities.

With this update, users will find a variety of dynamic facial filters designed to enrich their video calling experience. These filters enable real-time customization of video appearances, allowing for adjustments to the color tone of the video feed. This development aims to make video calls more engaging and enjoyable.

Enhancing Video Calls with WhatsApp’s New Features: What You Need to Know

New tools have been introduced by WhatsApp to improve the video call experience. Among these, a background editing tool has been added, which allows users to either blur their surroundings or replace them with pre-set backgrounds provided by the app.

Additionally, a low-light mode toggle has been incorporated to enhance visibility in dimly lit environments. This feature is particularly useful for evening calls or for users who frequently find themselves in low-light situations.

Another notable addition is the touch-up mode, which acts as a subtle filter to smooth out skin imperfections, giving users a more polished appearance during video calls.

Furthermore, users will benefit from a feature that automatically remembers their previous configuration settings. This includes the selected background and color filter. As a result, there is no need to adjust these settings repeatedly for each new video call, as WhatsApp will automatically apply the last used background and filter.

With these updates, WhatsApp aims to make video calls more versatile and convenient, offering users a range of options to enhance their calling experience.
