Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf should accept election results, not malign Pakistan’s armed forces

Ex-servicemen Society Chairman Lieutenant General (Retired) Abdul Qayyum has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf should accept election results and avoid actions that tarnish the image of Pakistan’s armed forces and judiciary. He emphasized that if PTI has any concerns about the results, appropriate legal and constitutional forums are available to address them.

Speaking at a press conference in Rawalpindi, Lieutenant General (Retired) Abdul Qayyum said, “We stand with Pakistan’s ex-servicemen and are committed to resolving their problems. A dedicated forum is necessary to address the concerns of the families of martyrs.”

He stressed that national security must not be compromised under any circumstances. “No single party should claim a simplistic majority just for the sake of power. Any party, even one with a two-thirds majority, should act according to its manifesto and strive for inclusive governance.”

Abdul Qayyum strongly condemned attempts to defame Pakistan’s military leadership. “Our brave soldiers are sacrificing their lives daily for the country. It is unacceptable to undermine their sacrifices through smear campaigns.”

He added that grievances related to the election process must be addressed fairly, but with dignity. “Everyone must be courageous enough to accept the people’s verdict. If senior leaders like Rana Sanaullah and Saad Rafique from PML-N can accept defeat, others should do the same.”

Once again reiterating his stance, he said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf should accept election results in the interest of national unity and institutional respect. “Instead of creating chaos, PTI should pursue dialogue—even indirect dialogue—if direct talks aren’t possible. All political leaders and institutions must learn from the past and work toward a positive future.”
