Pakistan’s 17th Parliamentary Seat: Jamat-e-Islami Loses Again, Independent Candidate Emerges Victorious

After a recount in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly’s PK-17 constituency, independent candidate Abidur Rahman, supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, emerged victorious.

Votes were recounted upon the request of independent candidate Abidur Rahman. According to the returning officer, after the recount, independent candidate Abidur Rahman emerged victorious.

Arau revealed that independent candidate Abidur Rahman secured 23,229 votes, while Jamaat-e-Islami’s Aizaz ul Malik Afaqari remained in second place with 19,990 votes.

Keep in mind that previously, according to the Election Commission’s Form 47, Aizaz ul Malik Afaqari had secured victory with 25,124 votes. Independent candidate Abidur Rahman was in second place with 22,981 votes.
