Cyber Attack Shakes Islamabad: Safe City and Police Records hacked

Cybersecurity Upgrades for Islamabad Police After Recent Attacks

Following a recent spate of cyber attacks on Islamabad Police systems, including the Safe City project and internal records, significant changes are being made to enhance cybersecurity measures. In response, the police department has decided to recruit a team of specialized cyber experts.

Recently, it was confirmed by police sources that six separate cyber attacks had targeted the Islamabad Police’s digital infrastructure. These attacks compromised both the Safe City project and internal records.

During these incidents, attackers managed to access sensitive records of the Islamabad Police. An ongoing investigation aims to determine the full extent of the data breach. In the meantime, immediate security measures have been put into place.

The attackers were able to access the passcodes for both the Safe City and police websites. However, these passcodes have since been changed to prevent further unauthorized access.

To address and mitigate future cyber threats, the Islamabad Police have announced plans to hire 49 cyber experts. These experts will be assigned to the Safe City project and will receive specialized training. Their role will be crucial in defending against cyber attacks and safeguarding the police’s digital assets.

This proactive approach underscores the growing significance of cybersecurity in law enforcement. As cybercriminals increasingly target critical infrastructure, bolstering these defenses has become more essential than ever.
